The Wilkes Community college is planning to offer a CPR class next week at our District Meeting (Tuesday Night, December 9) beginning at 7:00pm which will take the place of our Roundtable program. There needs to be a minimum of 10 people and an absolute maximum of 15 people to sign up and who can to commit to come. Anyone from your units can sign up. ATTENTION ALL UNITS:
Our next Roundtable Meeting will be Tuesday, December 09, 2008 and will begin at 7:00pm at the North Wilkesboro "First" UMC (in the downstairs fellowship hall). For our program this month, we are hosting a CPR Class that the Wilkes Community College is conducting. Please note that this will take the place of our Roundtable program for December. See the article above for more information.
THE PURPOSE FOR ROUNDTABLE:
Scout Leaders, Parents, and Unit Volunteers are always invited and encouraged to attend our Roundtable programs. Every Pack, Troop, and Venture Crew should continually plan to have at least one person attend the Roundtable every month so that you can be informed about the ongoing Scouting programs and how they can benefit you and your unit. Roundtable is designed to help your unit succeed by offering a time to share our ingredients for success, to receive training on new topics, to get acquainted with updates on our calendar, to get access to new materials, and be informed about how Scouting can be taken to the next level. Unless otherwise noted here, our Roundtable meetings will normally occur on the 2nd Tuesday of the Month beginning at 7:30pm.
See you at the Roundtable !!

To: All Wilkes District Volunteers, specifically, youth from Boy Scout Troops and their Adult Leaders:
This week, the OA Chapter needs the help of your Troop to sell Christmas trees. The sale of these trees will go toward a new maintenance project that has been designated at Camp Raven Knob. At the link above, you will find a schedule for all of the times we plan on selling Christmas trees. We need to ask your Troop for at least four volunteers (two youth and two adults) to help us work during these time slots. We ask that Scoutmasters and Scouting volunteers forward this email out to your members and also print this sheet to pass around at your meeting night to ask for their assistance. Not to metion of course, we hope your Unit members will stop by for their own Christmas Trees. Please call or email the Sawyers at their information below with the names and contacts of the people who are available to help.
We will first gather the availability information from your Units and Volunteers, and then begin scheduling our folks by calling them to confirm when they are needed.
Location:
We will be selling our Trees at the Venture Properties warehouse across the street from the wilco on the 2nd Street Hill in North Wilkesboro. It's just past the Duncan Gun & Pawn Shop on the right as your coming from North Wilkesboro. Look for the Christmas Trees and a sign that says: "Boy Scout Christmas Trees."
If we don't ask for your help then we may not be able to open up shop and sell these trees there are about 100 (6 to 14 foot) trees still left to sell.
Trees are supposed to be sold for $25, $30, and $35 based on height.
If you might be available to help, please contact: Bob, Penny, or Grant Sawyer at: (H) 336-670-2817 (C) 336-469-4088 or at: bobsawyer@charter.net
Also, be reminded that you and your Troop members should also participate in this sale as customers as well.
Thanks for your support!
Bob, Penny, and Grant Sawyer
"If we're not home please leave a message."

ATTENTION SCOUTERS:
Our next District Committee Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 09, 2008 beginning at 6:00pm at the North Wilkesboro "First" UMC. These meetings occur on the 2nd Tuesday of every month unless otherwise noted here. Click on the link above to download a list of our District Committee Members and their contact information.
THE PURPOSE FOR DISTRICT COMMITTEE MEETINGS:
The District has Committee Meetings once a month - just like a normal unit does - in order to provide many services that help meet the needs of local Scouting Units. Services such as: expanding and strengthening the relationships that we have here in our community, supporting local programs like the District Pinewood Derby Race, Boy Scout camporees, and Cub Scout Day Camp. We help Scouting raise the funds that our Council needs to run successful programs. We help your Unit recruit new members, provide training for all of our parents and unit leaders, conduct Eagle Boards of Review, Scouting For Food projects, and MORE!
District Committee Meetings are always open to anyone, but our regular attendance comes from those who help Scouting in the following areas: Activities & Camping, Training, Finance, Publicity & Civic Service, Advancement & Recognition, and Membership. Each of these committees are headed by a Chairman who helps us to recruit the very best volunteers to support the Scouting movement. Unless otherwise noted here, our District Committee Meetings will always occur on the 2nd Tuesday of the Month beginning at 6:00pm.
